A new series of stone sculptures inspired by a small Etruscan bronze votive figurine.
While visiting the Etruscan Museum at Fiesole, above Firenze, Italia, I saw a miraculous, very small, bronze votive figurine of a slender maiden without head or arms. Despite its size, it is a monumental work, timeless in its design and universal in its meaning - as contemporary as anything made today.
I was so impressed with it I had to play with the formal design motifs embodied in this figurine. Thus, these several sculptures in stone. I hope someday to make a large-scale version as well.
